Update #5: Increasing Activity

There has been activity on the vacant lot in the last few weeks: several small structures were removed from the lot.

I am subscribed to the information string from the city on development of the housing element, and there has been absolutely nothing that I’ve recieved on the topic since my last email update.

As of last week, no building permits have been approved for the property

One of the city planners told me that one of the ways you can tell if you have an easement against this vacant lot is to look at your deed. If you have a mortgage on your property, you may find a copy of your deed with the financing paperwork.

The City Of Rancho Palos Verdes has actually requested that the State Department of Housing and Community Development extend a ban on new developments that is currently in place in the Portuguese bend slide area to the entire city. As far as I know, no response as yet has been received from the state on this.

A post from one of the PVE City Council members on the Next-Door app stated what I suspected: City Council members are very reluctant to discuss progress on the housing element in public because they know developers are watching. I assume they are afraid that developers who are aware that a housing element is near approval will rush to submit building applications at the last minute.
