Update #11: All Hands on Deck

The moment we’ve been dreading has now happened. The developer that owns the property 5323 Ironwood, also known as Silver Spur Canyon, filed a builder's remedy application with the City Rancho of Palos Verdes yesterday. The application proposes building 4 11-story tall apartment complexes (that’s right – four!), each holding over 100 apartments and four floors of parking. That could be 1000 or more people living in the canyon, and 400 to 500 additional cars. The only driving access to this canyon is through the alleyway off of Ironwood, which feeds directly into the traffic that drops off and picks up at Silver Spur every school day, or onto Silver Spur Street just south of PV Drive north.

If you don’t want to see a massive influx of traffic and the safety issues that accompany it, egregiously out of place buildings in the midst of an otherwise entirely single-family residence neighborhood, now is the time to help. We hope you will contribute to our GoFundMe so we can get legal help. We also would like it if you can make sure everyone in the area knows what’s going on. Please tell your friends and neighbors and share the attached plan with them. Only through numbers will we have any influence on this process.

The leadership of Neighborhood, Voices of Silver Spur will be scheduling a meeting with the city manager to gain more information on the project and we will let you know what we find out.

And by the way, even though you may not live next to this proposed development, RPV’s housing element has still not been approved, and any piece of property for sale in Rancho Palos Verdes - even a single-family home- can be converted into an apartment building under the builder's remedy law.

Please help us fight this for the future of your neighborhood as well:
